K203/GBR203 is the sail number of Dave 'Vinnie' Standing. Following a year out in 2010 to have shoulder surgery, he returned to the BSA national tour in 2011. He again is going to compete in the 2012 BSA Slalom tour and the 2012 Weymouth speed week.

With continued support from WorthingWatersports, Baker Academy, K66 and Jamie Hawkins, Vinnie intends on promoting windsurfing on the local beaches and working hard to increase his sailing fitness. In 2012 he is trying to develope new windsurfing skills including perfecting the back loop and landing the forward.

During the windless periods Vinnie has found another passion in endurance running. He is mainly interested in Trail Running and has now completed 5 Marathons including 1 Ultra.

In 2012 he has great plans to compete in more Marathons starting with the Steyning Stinger, a very tough hilly trail marathon at the beginning of March.

1-5-2012 - London Marathon

Picture
On the 22nd April I completed the Virgin London Marathon in 3:46:29. All the hard work I put into my training since February paid off improving my PB by over 20 minutes.
I am now training for the South Downs Marathon which is in June and have ordered a road bike with the intention of doing some cross training to improve my times further.
We had a little windy spell in the middle of April which enabled me to get some time on the water scoring some fantastic conditions. I missed the BSA event at Weymouth due to an injury but I am planning on competing at the Worthing event at the end of May....

2-4-12 - Quiet on the wind front / busy running

We have had very little / no wind since the beginning of February. It has become so bad that I have even taken my kit out of the van.

At the beginning of February I found out that I had a London Marathon place. With only 3 weeks left until the big day I am trying to get my last long runs completed before the taper.

In the last six weeks I have competed in 1 marathon (Steyning Stinger) 1 half marathon (Silverstone) and 1 20 mile race (Spitfire 20 at Dunsfold) I have tried to build all of these events into my marathon preperations for London. I have one more 20 mile run to complete over the Easter weekend and then I ease back ready for the 22nd.

Over the Easter weekend it is the first BSA national event and the round Hayling windsurfing race. The forecast at the moment is for very little wind and what wind there is will come from the North and North / East. If the forecast improves I will go down to compete.
